Who We Are

A bearded man wearing a cap and a beige hoodie, smiling in front of a large tree trunk in a forest.

Dave Backhaus is the man behind DB Timber Falling. He grew up outside of Hartford, Connecticut before serving in the United States Marine Corps as an infantryman after high school. Post military service, he got his start in the timber industry hand cutting New England hardwoods while earning a B.S. in Natural Resources (Forestry concentration) at the University of Connecticut.

An interest in wildfire brought Dave west, and he began working as a hotshot in the US Forest Service. During his seven years with hotshot crews, he had the unique experience of working in many states and with different timber types, while learning the fine arts of hazard tree mitigation and burning operations.

In 2022, DB Timber Falling was born out of a desire to provide you with high quality, dependable and productive forestry services to safely meet your needs. Our customers’ satisfaction is our top priority.
